CSN Stores Book Shelf Review

I was contacted by a representative of CSNstores.com recently to review one of their products. I happened to desperately need a book shelf. For the past few months I have resorted to stacking piles of books on the floor which has resulted in many avalanches of books. So anyways, I requested to review the book shelf in the picture above. It is the ORE 4 Tier Book Shelf in Black. I loved the way it looked and figured since it is metal it would be sturdy enough for my heavier tomes. I received the shelf very quickly and commenced putting it together (by myself I might add). It does not come with step by step instructions, it comes with a diagram...which is all you will need because it is ridiculously simple to put it together. Oh, and you don't need any tools because it comes with an allen wrench (for those that don't know it is a little metal tool in the shape of an L and works kind of like a screw driver). I would say it took me about 15-30 minutes to put together. I am VERY pleased with the book shelf. It is lightweight, yet sturdy enough to hold a lot books without bowing under the weight. If you are in the market for a book shelf I definitely recommend this one.
This is a pic of the book shelf with my books on it...so pretty :) Notice no bowing, YAY! I would like to thank Jason and CSN Stores for the opportunity to review this beauty

By the way, did you know they have over 200 CSN Stores? There is something for everybody there.

I received this item for review, however, any opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced by another in any way

The Stepsister Scheme by Jim C. Hines

Paperback: 352 pages
Publisher: DAW (January 6, 2009)

What would happen if an author went back to the darker themes of the original fairy tales for his plots, and then crossed the Disney princesses with Charlie’s Angels? What’s delivered is The Stepsister Scheme—a whole new take on what happened to Cinderella and her prince after the wedding. And with Jim C. Hines penning the tale readers can bet it won’t be “and they lived happily ever after.”

This book is full of adventure, magic, and girls who kick ass. These Princesses aren't to be confused with their Disney versions. The story's focus is on Princess Danielle AKA Cinderella. Her husband Prince Armand is kidnapped and put under a spell by Cinderella's evil stepsisters. Her mission is to make it to Fairytown to rescue her love with the aid of her two friends Talia (Sleeping Beauty) and Snow (Snow White....obviously).

There are a couple of twists in the story that keep it from being boring and although I felt that it had a slow start it picked up in the end. What I find very interesting is that the story begins AFTER the fairy tale portion....Cinderella has already married her prince and is supposed to be living happily ever after. The same thing with Talia's and Snow's stories. They are living in the castle as the Queen's personal servants even though they are princesses to escape their terrible pasts.

I would love to know more about the Princesses and what brought them to where they are now. The hopes that future book will reveal more about them is enough to keep me reading this series. The second book is The Mermaid's Madness. A third book in the series, Red Hood's Revenge, will be released on July 6, 2010.
