Book Review: Grimspace by Ann Aguirre
- Mass Market Paperback: 320 pages
- Publisher: Ace (February 26, 2008)
Sirantha carries the J-gene which lets her jump ships through Grimspace along with a pilot. It reminds me of Star Trek a little where they are able to go into warp speed (or whatever it is called) and then appear halfway across the galaxy. Jax is a fall guy and the "man" is hunting her down. She (and the crew that busted her out) get into a lot of life or death situations and bounce around alien planets looking for well...aliens to help their cause. It is a frustratingly interesting book. I say frustrating because sometimes it was hard for me to keep up with what is being said...so much data for my tiny brain. Okay, not really but I occasionally felt like I missed out on vital information that would explain what the hell they were talking about. This book is very sci-fi with action and a smidge of romance even. It was a new experience for me, definitely out of my comfort zone, but I loved it. Now I have to run out and get the next 2 books in the series.

This book was a gift. Any opinions are my own and no one elses.
Book Review: Happy Hour at Casa Dracula by Marta Acosta
- Paperback: 320 pages
- Publisher: Pocket (July 4, 2006)
This book was definitely a fun and witty read. Action, drama, romance, humor, seriously awkward situations....you name it. I thought it was interesting how the character interactions evolved. Some relationships were a bit unexpected. On the other hand, there was some predictability as well but I suppose it kept things grounded. Milagro is a Latina and it shows in her character which I just love and it will be fun to read more about her in the rest of this series.

Twenty-two years ago four teenage boys were convicted of a young girl's murder. Now, in the form of a beautiful woman, the "victim" is seeking vengeance. And only one man dares to dig into the past to uncover its secrets… and set her free.
Lady of the Nile by Susan Krinard
Lady Tameri believes herself to be the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian princess, and Leo Erskine has set out to prove her wrong…never dreaming that the two of them are about to discover a prophecy that will bind them together forever.
*I just received this book for Christmas and I am very excited to read it. Gena Showalter is one of my favorite authors and I have loved everything she has written so far. I am sure the other writers of this book are wonderful as well. Gena has a great contest going on at her blog right now for spreading the word about Heart of Darkness....check it out HERE
