CSN Stores

Hi everyone! I know this is not book related but I have this great site you should check out. If you are tired of you boring old mailboxes just head over to MoreMailboxes.com! Most people probably don't think about their mailboxes too much but they should! It is a great way to beautify the outside of your home. These are some of my favorites:

Secure Logic Mail Vault - 2030 - X

This mailbox is really cool because you use a keypad to retrieve your mail. That way you know your mail is safe and secure. It also has a really unique look that I love.

Special Lite Products Floral Curbside Mailbox

This mailbox has serious curb appeal. From the color to the vines and leaves it is just gorgeous. I think it has a simple elegance to it and my favorite part is the leaf handle.
coming soon from CSN stores I will be doing a review of one of their book shelves!

Book Review: Grimspace by Ann Aguirre

  • Mass Market Paperback: 320 pages
  • Publisher: Ace (February 26, 2008)
As the carrier of a rare gene, Sirantha Jax has the ability to jump ships through grimspace-a talent which makes her a highly prized navigator for the Corp. Then a crash landing kills everyone on board, leaving Jax in a jail cell with no memory of the crash. But her fun's not over. A group of rogue fighters frees her...for a price: her help in overthrowing the established order.

Sirantha carries the J-gene which lets her jump ships through Grimspace along with a pilot. It reminds me of Star Trek a little where they are able to go into warp speed (or whatever it is called) and then appear halfway across the galaxy. Jax is a fall guy and the "man" is hunting her down. She (and the crew that busted her out) get into a lot of life or death situations and bounce around alien planets looking for well...aliens to help their cause. It is a frustratingly interesting book. I say frustrating because sometimes it was hard for me to keep up with what is being said...so much data for my tiny brain. Okay, not really but I occasionally felt like I missed out on vital information that would explain what the hell they were talking about. This book is very sci-fi with action and a smidge of romance even. It was a new experience for me, definitely out of my comfort zone, but I loved it. Now I have to run out and get the next 2 books in the series.

This book was a gift. Any opinions are my own and no one elses.

Book Review: Happy Hour at Casa Dracula by Marta Acosta

  • Paperback: 320 pages
  • Publisher: Pocket (July 4, 2006)
Latina Ivy League grad Milagro de Los Santos can't find her place in the world or a man to go with it. Then one night, at a book party for her pretentious ex-boyfriend, she meets an oddly attractive man. After she is bitten while kissing him, she falls ill and is squirreled away to his family's estate to recover. Vampires don't exist in this day and age -- or do they? As Milagro falls for a fabulously inappropriate man, she finds herself caught between a family who has accepted her as one of their own and a shady organization that refuses to let the undead live and love in peace.

This book was definitely a fun and witty read. Action, drama, romance, humor, seriously awkward situations....you name it. I thought it was interesting how the character interactions evolved. Some relationships were a bit unexpected. On the other hand, there was some predictability as well but I suppose it kept things grounded. Milagro is a Latina and it shows in her character which I just love and it will be fun to read more about her in the rest of this series.

I won this book in a giveaway. My opinions are my own and no one elses.

Bottoms Up 2010 Reading Challenge

Ellz Readz is hosting the Bottoms Up 2010 Reading Challenge. This is a simple challenge where the goal is to take 2-3 books from the bottom of your TBR pile each month and read them. This challenge is perfect for me because I have a problem with my TBR pile...it has grown into a monster. There are so many books I want to read that a lot of them just keep getting pushed further down into the pile. SO I decided to join this challenge. My goal is 2 books a month.
