Once Upon a Read-a-Thon

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon
I have made a last minute decision to join the Once Upon a Read-a-Thon that Starts today and lasts through the 13th. I have a ton of reading I need to get done and I figured this would be my motivation to get it done. I will update this post every day with my progress.

My reading list:

Original Sin by Lisa Desrochers-finished
Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs
Twisted by Sara Shepard-finished
City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

Day 1

Mini Challenge at IB Book Blogging:

1. What is your favorite type of myth (Greek, Roman, Egyptian etc)?
I love all types of mythology but Greek has always been a particular favorite.

2. What is your favorite book with some type of mythology in it?
That is a tough one because there are so many great books with mythology. I really love the Percy Jackson series so I will go with that.

End of day progress:

I ended up only reading about 77 pages of Original Sin. I had to do a lot of stuff around the house so I am going to buckle down on Tuesday and get serious about reading.

Day 2

Mini Challenge at YA Bliss

Top 3 Love Triangles:
  • Peeta vs. Gale (Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins)
  • Ash vs. Puck (Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa)
  • Ryu vs. Anyan (Jane True series by Nicole Peeler)
Mini Challenge at The Bookish Type

Pick any book from your readathon pile and write a fake synopsis based solely on the cover.

Liz is a liar...and she has messed with the wrong witch.

Liz finds herself trapped in an enormous living dollhouse with a dozen other girls. The witch turned each girl into a doll as punishment. They must find a way to get free or they will spend forever as the witch's playthings, but how can they break the curse and beat the witch when they are just dolls?

End of day progress:

I was able to finish reading Original Sin by Lisa Desrochers and I got about halfway through with Twisted by Sara Shepard.

Day 3

Mini Challenge at Wicked Awesome Books

Match-make two characters from different book:

Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter series) and Puck (Iron Fey series)

Luna is odd with an ethereal quality. She is open, friendly and nonjudgmental wich I think would pair well with Puck's mischievous playfulness. I think they would have a lot of fun together. I also think that since they are both able to use magic the pairing is a good one.

Mini Challenge at Books from Bleh to Basically Amazing

Book Recommendation:

Wildefire by Karsten Knight

This is an amazing read, especially if you like mythology. What makes this one really stand out amongst other books is that is doesn't limit itself to one type of mythology and the characters are of a variety of ethnicity. It is a nice change from the norm. The gradual discovery of what god or goddess the characters are is exciting as well as the danger they must face.

Book recommendation from books read during read-a-thon:

Twisted by Sara Shepard

This is the 9th book in the Pretty Little Liars series and yet it is just as awesome as the first! Each chapter leaves you anxious to find out what happens next. The curiosity will drive you crazy and leave you wanting more and more. This book has some unexpected twists to it and the storyline promises to build up to something even darker than in the first 8 books in the series. In Twisted there are more secrets, betrayals, and danger. It will leave you on the edge of your seat in suspense and shock.

End of day progress:

I finished Twisted and read through part of Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs.

Overall:

I'm not really satisfied with the amount I read. Had I stayed focused on reading I could have easily read 5 or 6 books at least. I only completed 2 books and about 1/3 of another. As it is, I did read more in these 3 days than I have been lately so I am glad I joined the read-a-thon.

Hmm, I like your matchmaking up there, mostly because I adore Luna. I haven't read the Iron Fey series, but I like the sound of this Puck.

You did a great job on the read-a-thon too! It's supposed to be fun, so if you weren't able to focus on your books, then maybe you just weren't up for that much reading. 2 1/3 books sounds like a decent job to me.
