Book Review: Killer by Sara Shepard

Hardcover: 336 pages
Publisher: HarperTeen (June 30, 2009)

Description from Amazon:

In picture-perfect Rosewood, Pennsylvania, ash-blond highlights gleam in the winter sun and frozen lakes sparkle like Swarovski crystals. But pictures often lie—and so do Rosewood's four prettiest girls.

Hanna, Aria, Spencer, and Emily have been lying ever since they became friends with beautiful Alison DiLaurentis. Ali made them do terrible things—things they had to keep secret for years. And even though Ali was killed at the end of seventh grade, their bad-girl ways didn't die with her.

Hanna's on a mission to corrupt Rosewood's youth, starting with a very attractive sophomore. Aria's snooping into her boyfriend's past. Spencer's stealing—from her family. And pure little Emily's abstaining from abstinence.

The girls should be careful, though. They thought they were safe when Ali's killer was arrested and A's true identity was finally revealed. But now there's a new A in town turning up the heat. And this time Rosewood is going to burn.

*********************************

This is book #6 in The Pretty Little Liars series. Apparently "A" is back with a vengeance. The girls thought their ordeal was finally over now that Mona was gone but they were wrong. Some interesting things happen in each of the girl's lives. I found Spencer's issues to be particularly interesting. With all the stuff that has gone on I think that I would have had a mental breakdown. These are some pretty resilient girls...even though at times I think they are obtuse. How many times are they going to fall for these deceptions. You would think by now they would have learned not to believe everything "A" has written or had them see. But then again, if I were in their situation maybe I wouldn't be thinking so clearly about that either. This book was a great read that gets the readers a little closer to finding out the truth.

5/5

These Pretty Little Liars are scary! I teach middle school and hope never to meet any girls like them!

For some reason, although all of her friends are into these books, I bought the first 3 for my Not-So-Bebe Girl Autumn and she really didn't like them - they ended up going to her 21-year-old sister, who adored them! I think it's because Autumn is more into books like "Graceling" and the Mortal Instruments series - fantasy with even a mix of historical fiction seems to be her genre of preference.
Anyway, now that I've gone totally off track, very good, concise review! Thanks!

I know some girls like these. I nicknamed them the "Mean Girls." Now when I say it, everyone knows the three I am talking about. I'm also a big fan of steampunk!

Found you at Cym Lowell's site. Let the party begin. I will add and follow you to my book blog site. Stop by when you get time.
